Founded in August of 1999, Brinkster was originally conceived of as a place for developers to test and learn how to write code. Small business and personal Web sites soon became the norm at Brinkster as the developers who were testing and learning began to develop Web sites for clients and friends. Features

As with many Web hosts, a user can purchase domain names and command a choice between Windows and Linux hosting. Both choices offer three levels, from the Rookie to the Advanced, with a Pro level nestled between. Although Brinkster offered Web design services in the past, they are no longer offered. With that said, Brinkster provides code help in their support pages.

Since October, 2005 Brinkster has signed up over 2 million customers for their services. Many of those customers have stayed and are still with them today. While some of their hosting options are inexpensive, they believe that running a viable and profitable business is important. Brinkster states they have invested heavily in the network and server hardware that supports their hosting. They use Cisco networking gear and HP servers. Pricing

When we visited the site, opportunities to purchase dedicated servers were null and void, as all servers were listed as “out of stock.” This does not mean that Brinkster will not offer servers in the future, but nothing on the site indicated a time frame. They provide a 90 day guarantee for their shared Web hosting packages, so if you are not completely satisfied in the first 90 days, they will refund your money.

Support

A CNET review of Brinkster’s services found, “Technical support is where Brinkster really shines.” They state that they are available 24/7/265 by email, live chat or by phone (toll free in the U.S.). They also offer a new service called, “Radical Support.” Their Radical Support Team follows strong conviction and extreme principles to serve you beyond the “extra mile.” They set themselves apart by uncompromising work ethic, knowledge and endurance. Part of this service is a live chat wait time that is two minutes or less on average under ‘normal’ conditions.
