Features

Media Temple provides users with several options for hosting. Their base grid service (gs) is a completely new hosting service that replaces yesterday’s obsolete shared server technology. Although basic, this service still supplies room for up to 100 sites along with a 64 MB Ruby/Mongrel container, their ‘MySQL GridContainers,’ and MySQL SmartPool v.2 with load-leveling technology, burst-able database resources and more.

Their upper-level services include a dedicated virtual server geared toward resellers, their (dpv) Nitro with quad-core processing and SAS hard drives, and their (cx) Complex Hosting plan. This latter plan is designed for clients requiring custom hosting solutions not met by any of other product lines.

All hosting plans include instant scalability. In the case of their basic (gs) plan, this means that anytime your sites exceed demand through traffic, bandwidth or storage space, your plan will be ‘boosted’ into another level temporarily. Once you’ve experienced three ‘boosts,’ your plan will automatically be placed into a higher-priced tier. These boosts allow users to understand how and why their site(s) are exceeding allowed space and bandwidth and to remedy the situation before being boosted permanently into a higher-priced plan.

The (mt) data center contains approximately 7,000 square feet currently with room for expansion up to 40,000 square feet. On-site armed security is around-the-clock to monitor the alarm system and security cameras that are on all perimeter points of ingress/egress to the building. Bulletproof security station and shipping/receiving areas with a Biometric security system are also in place. All hardware is placed on a 24″ raised floor manufactured by Maxcess that covers every square foot of their cages, MDF and Network Operation Center. (mt) utilizes all climate, fire and energy controls available to a Tier IV data center - which means they go all out to protect your online assets and hardware.

Finally, although you may not see many features listed below, but (mt) is open to working with clients to support many programs, languages, and scripts.

Their average hold time for live support is under two minutes.
