Gallery comes with a handy Web-based configuration wizard that helps to make sure the Web server and operating system are set up correctly. It also allows users to configure many of Gallery’s options while determining as much as it can from the Web host environment. The wizard lastly creates an admin account for the user to administer the Gallery. This account allows the main user the ability to add more users in various capacities.

Individuals who utilize Gallery will find that this tool will create any number of albums filled with user photos. Additionally, Gallery has a remote protocol that is a Java program that will run on any system that Java will run on. Users can then upload photos to the Gallery via a drag-and-drop interface. Photos can be sent out to subscribers via RSS feeds. Viewers can navigate easily around the album by using the navigation bars at the top and bottom of every album page. Each album can be given its own unique URL. Each photo within the album in turn has its own unique URL. The Gallery supports over 30 languages for users and for viewers. Visitors also can choose of they want to see full-size or scaled images. Other features include an Album Tree, slideshow, click counting, and keyword searching among other tools.

Compatibility

You must have your own website with PHP and database support in order to install and use Gallery. Other methods are available to add pictures easily to the Gallery including ones that support Windows XP, Apple’s iPhoto, Mobile Phones, perl, python, and more. These would include flickr, Picasa, iPhoto, Windows XP Publishing Wizard, and F-Spot among others. Gallery also can be embedded in several content management systems including Nuke 5.0+, NSN-nuke, Post-nuke, Geek Log, phpBB2, and Mambo.
