What is it?

ISPConfig is an open source hosting control panel for Linux developed by projektfarm GMBH. ISPConfig is licensed under BSD license. ISPConfig allows for the user to manage Internet services such as Web, FTP, database, and DNS servers. It also allows for the configuration of firewalls, anti-virus, users and shell users, email autoresponders, spam filters and quotas.

Who is it for?

ISPConfig is for use by Web hosting companies of all sizes and multi-domain Internet hosts using the Linux operating system. The most recent fully stable version is 2.2.21, with version 2.3.3 currently in development and available for download and testing. As an open source project, ISPConfig is always in need of additional developers to help build and improve the control panel.

Features

ISPConfig is currently available in eight interface languages including English, German, French, and Spanish. The language settings are per user, meaning that several languages can be implemented on one panel to reflect individual logins. Other general features include four different allowable logins including Administrator, Reseller, Client, and Email User, the ability to create folders and categories for storage of resellers, clients, and sites, update manager, and a recycle bin option to allow for restoration of deleted information.

ISPConfig also provides both a primary and secondary DNS, automatic network configuration for new IP addresses, and a trouble ticket system for support. Supported software includes Apache 1.3.x/2.0.x/2.2.x and Proftpd and vsftpd. Supported mail servers include Sendmail and Postfix, all POP3 and POP3s Servers, and all IMAP and IMAPs servers. Also included are firewall configuration, monitoring of services and automatic restart, Web FTP, Web mail interface, and phpMyAdmin integration. Domain options and services include PHP, SSI, CGI-Directories, SSL Sites and Certificates, Frontpage 2002 extensions, MySQL Databases, disk quota, Webalizer and traffic statistics, and traffic limits for Web sites and resellers.

Compatibility

Supported distributions of Linux include Mandrake Linux starting from version 8.1 to 10.2, Mandriva 2006, 2007, 2007 Spring and 2008.0, Red Hat Linux starting from version 7.3 to 9.0, Fedora Core 1 - 6, Fedora 7, Fedora 8, SuSE Linux starting from version 7.2 to 10.3 Debian 3.0, 3.1, and 4.0, Ubuntu 5.04, 5.10, 6.06, 6.10, 7.04, and 7.10, and CentOS 4.1 to 5.1. The supported server is Apache Webserver version 1.3.12 or later. Php 4.0.5 or newer must be included as an Apache module, along with MySQL database and a POP3/IMAP daemon that supports either the traditional Unix-Mailbox format or the Maildir format. The compatible server must also include OpenSSL and mod_ssl for the creation of SSL virtual hosts.
